We are seeking a clinical leader for our critical care areas which include two critical care units, heart observation unit and cardiac cath lab. The Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.
This position is responsible for the comprehensive administration of clusters of critical care units. The Director shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of the clinical units as it relates to short and long-term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, quality assurance, and systems utilization. The Director uses outstanding communication, problem-solving, and change management skills to influence Human Resources utilization and motivation, marketing, and inter- and intra-departmental relations. Some key responsibilities include:
Rounding to seek out clinical challenges and offering suggestions for enhancing nursing care
Managing clinical emergencies and operates internal and external disaster plan.
Providing vision and action in designing and maintaining an efficient and effective patient care delivery system.
Inspiring managers and staff to high standards of care while maintaining exceptional productivity ratios.
Develop budgets for areas of responsibility. Reviews and analyzes budget and other management reports.
Develop recruitment and retention strategies to keep turnover rates lower than regional norms.
Develop and sustain standards of care and practice which are consistent with current trends
Meet or exceed all JCAHO standards for areas of responsibility.
Successful incumbents will have a Master's degree in Nursing with at least four years of experience at a manager or director level in an acute hospital setting. (Or MBA with BSN). Cardiovascular management experience is a MUST. Able to obtain CO RN license.
