Vehicle Description Meet 'Liza Jane:
She is my family's 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door.
By my family, I mean she was owned first by my grandparents, then by my father, and now by me.
My Grandmother drove her until her eyes failed late in life.
In fact, Grandma lost sight in one eye and planned trips around town, turning only in the direction of her good eye! 'Liza had a limited facelift 30-ish years ago (a little body work, and some paint).
The Signs of Age:
Liza' interior is faded in some areas, her steering wheel is worn, and the paint is down to the black base in the usual places.
Her ceiling fabric is thin and torn in a couple of places.
She has dings on the passenger side front panel, the driver's side rear panel, the rear bumper is a little crooked, the hood has a few chips, there is rust on the rocker panels, hub caps are missing and the exterior mirrors are off.
'Liza needs help stopping (brakes).
She spent most of her time in garages and currently lives under a car port with a cover on.
The Signs of Life:
'Liza stands out in today's crowd of ultra-sleek cars in a way that only true classics can.
She runs great, purrs really, starting with just a little choke.
It's a pleasure just sitting in the driver's position, but I have taken her out on the local streets.
